CCG Distinguished Speakers’ Series featuring: Sir Danny Alexander, Vice President and Corporate Secretary, AIIB
The Asian Infrastructure Investment
Bank (AIIB) is a multilateral development bank that provides financing for
infrastructure projects in Asia and beyond. Proposed by the Chinese president
Xi Jinping in 2013, the AIIB has been interpreted by many observers as a way
challenge to multilateral lending bodies that unperpin the post-war
international economic system such as the IMF and the World Bank.
On June 11, the Center for China and
Globalization (CCG) is honored and pleased to welcome Sir Danny Alexander, vice
president and corporate secreaty at the AIIB, to give a public talk. A former
senior minister in the UK Treasury, Sir Danny joined the AIIB in Febuary 2016,
two month after the bank was inaugurated. His speech seeks to address the
following topics:– AIIB
as a multilateral and international institution with high standards of
governance;– How
to showcase AIIB as a case study for China of building world class institutions
globally;– AIIB’s
role of developing sustainable infrastructure, cross-border connectivity and
promoting Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) investing in Emerging
Asia;
