New Book | Understanding the Global Power Shifts in the 21st Century: An Introduction to Soft Power and Great-Power Competition
On April 28, 2023, a new book by the father of “soft power” Joseph S. Nye Jr., former dean of the Harvard Kennedy School, titled Soft Power and Great-Power Competition: Shifting Sands in the Balance of Power Between the United States and China, was released at the headquarters of the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) in Beijing.

Text: Wang Huiyao in dialogue with Joseph Nye
On April 28th, Professor Joseph Nye’s new book, Soft Power and Great-Power Competition: Shifting Sands in the Balance of Power between the United States and China, published in English by Springer Nature and in Chinese by CITIC Press, was released at CCG. The book is another heavyweight work in the “China and Globalization” book series edited by Dr. Huiyao Wang and Dr. Lu Miao. During the event, Professor Joseph Nye and CCG President Dr. Huiyao Wang had a dialogue.

MSC2023: CCG hosts side event on US-China climate cooperation
On Feb. 18, the non-governmental Center for China and Globalization (CCG) hosted a side event at the Munich Security Conference (MSC) on US-China climate change cooperation titled “Oasis or Mirage: Analyzing China-U.S. Relations on Climate Cooperation.”

40 Ambassadors and Diplomats Attend CCG Open Day
As spring finally arrives in the city, on March 23, the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) hosted its very first open day in 2021 at our newly expanded Beijing headquarters. Around 100 distinguished guests, including 40 ambassadors and diplomats, government officials, policy advisors, heads of international organizations and groups, senior business executives, media representatives, and members of the CCG advisory council attended this event. The event featured two acclaimed cultural programs, “Ancient Tang Poems from iSing” and “Searching for Kung Fu”which seek to fuse Chinese and Western heritage, promoting appreciation of Chinese culture and cross-cultural exchange in unique ways. Wang Huiyao, president of CCG, welcomed all the guests and said that here at CCG, we hope to build a bridge between China and the West, enhance understanding and resolve differences. As we open our newly renovated multifunctional conference area, CCG hopes to facilitate more open dialogue and exchange, as well as to host more offline events and promote international collaboration. Further, Wang introduced “Searching for Kung Fu” and “Ancient Tang Poems from iSing”, stating that both programs show dedication to advance understanding of traditional Chinese culture and multiculturalism. Further Opening Up to Meet New Challenges of Globalization
The Center for China and Globalization (CCG), PRC Ministry of Commerce China Association of International Economic Cooperation (CAIEC) and United Nations China (UN China), in partnership with the Academy of Contemporary China and the World Studies (ACCWS), jointly held the 5th Annual China and Globalization Forum on April 14th, 2019 at the China World International Conference Center, Beijing.
