CCG Granted Special Consultative Status to UN Agency
Earlier this month, the Center for China and Globalization was granted the official special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC), as one of few Chinese NGOs and the only Chinese think tank that have gained the status. This shows the remarkable progress that Chinese think tanks have made in expanding their influence in the global governance mechanism.

CCG invited as founding member of “Think Tank Alliance on US Issues
On July 14, the Ministry of Finance’s International Economics and Finance Institute hosted a seminar on the impacts and trends of the Sino-US trade war. The event also saw the founding ceremony of the Think Tank Alliance on US Issues, of which CCG is one of the first members.

C100 president Frank Wu highlights “bridging role” for Chinese-Americans
Chinese-Americans and “bridging” organizations such as the Committee of 100 and CCG have a vital role to play in promoting harmonious Sino-US relations, particularly given intensifying trade frictions between the two countries. One figure seeking to play such a role is Frank Wu, Distinguished Professor of Law at UC Hastings and president of the Committee of 100 (C100), a leadership organization of prominent Chinese Americans in business, government, academia, and the arts.

2017 “Global Go To Think Tank Index” Report Released; CCG Ranked among World’s Top 100 Think Tanks
On Jan. 30, 2018, the 2017 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report (GGTTI), the most internationally influential think tank ranking system by the Think Tank and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) at the University of Pennsylvania, was launched in turn by more than 170 institutions in over 100 cities around the world. A great number of prestigious scholars and politicians including the heads of the Brookings Institute, Heritage Foundation, and the other 60 think tanks as well as former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, attended the launching ceremony in Washington, D.C. and New York. The event in China was held in the Penn Wharton China Center.
