Over 30 Ambassadors Attended New Year Reception at CCG

January 23 , 2024

On January 23, 2024, as we get closer to the Year of the Dragon, the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) hosted a new year reception at its Beijing headquarters, gathering over a hundred elite individuals from all walks of life to discuss a new chapter in international cooperation. The reception invited 20 representatives from central government ministries and other departments, 36 ambassadors and diplomats to China, 18 representatives from international organizations and business associations, 17 representatives from Chinese and foreign enterprises, four representatives from international media, as well as members of CCG’s Advisory Board and other distinguished guests, to celebrate the New Year together.

Before the reception, CCG hosted an Ambassadors’ Roundtable that also featured the release of its latest book in collaboration with Springer-Nature and the World Affairs Press. The event invited authors, ambassadors, editors, publishing industry professionals, diplomats, senior scholars, and members of the business community to participate in the release and discuss the new book. At the reception, CCG President Wang Huiyao delivered a welcome speech, and CCG Secretary-General Miao Lu introduced the attended guests.

CCG Secretary-General Miao Lu extended her warmest welcome to the guests present at the event, and expressed her heartfelt gratitude for their support. She noted that being able to gather together to celebrate the arrival of the Lunar New Year was not only a great honor for CCG but also symbolized the solidarity and steadfast support for CCG’s upcoming endeavors, which is a crucial part of CCG’s future success.

CCG President Wang Huiyao extended New Year greetings to the guests and paid tribute to those who have long supported and participated in CCG’s development, noting that CCG celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2023. Throughout the year, CCG continued its efforts, as a think tank, to contribute to deepening international cooperation and promoting inclusive globalization. CCG carried out six global “Track II diplomacy” tours, lasting a total of 71 days and spanning 15 countries and 22 cities, collaborating with top international multilateral policy forums, participating in agenda setting, and hosting official events. CCG also made appearances and voiced its opinions at over 30 high-end international multilateral forums, visited dozens of top think tanks, engaged in conversations with hundreds of interdisciplinary senior figures, and had face-to-face interactions with hundreds of influential international thought leaders. He added that over the past year, CCG hosted 10 large-scale forums, 10 global dialogues with renowned figures, and over 30 international seminars, receiving visits from dozens of ambassadors and embassy officials, foreign dignitaries, international organization officials, famous international experts and scholars, and representatives of multinational corporations. CCG’s research achievements were fruitful, with the publication of seven books in simplified Chinese, two in traditional Chinese, and six in English, as well as the release of seven research reports. In addition, CCG continued to fulfill its mission of providing think tank advice and suggestions through hundreds of policy suggestions, ten internal policy briefs, five think tank journals, and over 60 in-depth exchanges with government departments. CCG serves as a bridge for communication between China and foreign countries, playing an active role in promoting the process of globalization. In 2024, standing at a new historical juncture, as an explorer and practitioner in think tank development, CCG will live up to its historic mission and continue to provide advice and suggestions in China’s path toward globalization. CCG will also proactively leverage its advantage as a non-governmental think tank in people-to-people diplomacy, building bridges for communication between China and the world, while also contributing thoughts and shaping global consensus.
