About GYLD

Initiated by the Center for China and Globalization (CCG), the Global Young Leaders Dialogue (GYLD) program is a unique communication, education, and professional development platform for young achievers under the age of 45 with diverse regional, cultural, disciplinary, sectorial, and professional backgrounds across the globe. GYLD builds on the world’s global young leaders’ programs and emphasizes shared values such as open and equal dialogue, intellectual exchange, inclusive and mutual learning. GYLD is dedicated to the following global issues:

■ Dialogue among civilizations

■ Sustainable and inclusive development

■ Public health and wellbeing

 

Goals and objectives

GYLD program is designed to nurture development of globally-minded young leaders and foster mutual understanding among them by bringing together every year 30-40 of the brightest young minds from all over the world and engaging them in discussions of global issues that will shape the future of humankind. Via events and activities including annual forum, seminars and training camps, workshops, research and publication, it aims to foster a cross-national network for leaders of tomorrow oriented towards providing innovative solutions to global challenges. GYLD program also seeks to integrate its agenda into high-profile international events such as the China and Globalization Forum, the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, the China International Import Expo, and the Boao Forum for Asia.

 

Launch

On December 15, GYLD was officially launched in Beijing, China. The event was attended by Chinese and international dignitaries including ambassadors, government officials, heads of international organizations, global opinion leaders, young influencers in business and society from more than 20 countries.

GYLD Action Plan 2021

“WiseDemo” Campaign

Launched at March 24th, “WiseDemo Campaign” calls for proposals from young experts around the world for innovative solutions to today’s global governance challenges along GYLD’s areas of focus. Top 10 winners will be invited to participate in the GYLD Forum 2021.

GYLD China Tour

In April and May, several tours will be organized for international young experts stay in China. Each group will spend 4-5 days experiencing regional stories of China’s reforms and exploring the juxtaposition of Chinese and global development.

Annual GYLD Forum

This one-day conference will take place in mid. June in conjunction with China and Globalization Forum, one of China’s elite international events. The event will be attended by selected young leaders, members of GYLD advisory and expert committees, as well as eminent scholars, government advisors, senior diplomats, and business leaders. The forum is also designed to showcase the best 10 “WiseDemo” proposals and China Tour participants’ experiences.

Global Young Leaders Professional Development Program (in development)

This program aims to provide young professionals with 2-4 weeks’ graduate seminars on topics ranging from geopolitics, Chinese studies, global business to leadership development in the summer of 2021.

Global Young Leaders Working Groups (in development)

This program offers mixers and small-group discussions to GYLD cohorts on a monthly basis starting July of 2021. The sessions are expected to take place in more relaxed, informal settings for young influencers to form issue-specific groups.

Research and publication (in development)

This program will offer grants, stipends and other financial support for GYLD cohorts to develop and conduct research on global governance. Working with GYLD partners drawn from university centers, institutes, think tanks, research consultancies, nonprofits, and publishing groups, this program seeks to nurture young minds and thought leadership via multiple publication platforms.
