Zamir Ahmed Awan: China’s assistance helped Pakistan contain spread of COVID-19
Pakistan managed to contain the spread of COVID-19 due to assistance extended by time-tested friend China. An expert medical team consisting of doctors has left Pakistan after providing necessary training to Pakistani health officials, doctors, and paramedics. They conducted intensive training and crash programs for Pakistani health experts in all major cities, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi.

Zamir Ahmed Awan: CPEC’s biggest impact will be on education sector
China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a catalyst for Pakistan's developments. It covers all essential sectors of development such as infrastructure, power generation, energy, agriculture, industry, health, social and education sectors, etc. After completion of 22 projects under CPEC, a visible impact is clear in the power and transportation sectors. Where once 10-hour power cuts due to the shortfall in production and demand of electricity were normal, there's hardly any power cuts now. The transportation sector has boosted as a network of motorways and highways across the length and breadth of the country.

Zamir Ahmed Awan: Expectations for Afghan peace deal
The expectations were very high regarding the Afghan peace agreement signed on Feb 29 in Doha, the capital of Qatar, between the US officials and Taliban, aiming to end the United States’ longest war, fought in Afghanistan since 2001. The signing ceremony was attended by the representatives from Pakistan, Qatar, Turkey, India, Indonesia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, which will pave the way for the US to gradually withdraw its troops in a period of 14 months.
