Founder / CEO of LAIX
In September 2012, Yi Wang founded LAIX Inc. (“LAIX” or the “Company”) – now a leading “AI+ Education” company – with Zheren Hu and Hui Lin.
In 2013, LAIX launched its first product “English Liulishuo” App. Then in In July 2016, “AI English Teacher”was officially introduced in the form of AI core course “DongNi English”. It is based on Deep Learning and Adaptive Learning technology, which provides a personalized and adaptive learning path for every learner to help them better improve learning efficiency.
On September 27, 2018, as the forerunner of “Education 3.0” model, LAIX was officially listed on the New York Stock Exchange and was hailed as “The First Stock of AI+Education” by media. LAIX’s pre-IPO investors include: IDG Capital, Trustbridge Partners, GGV Capital, CMC Capital Partners, Cherubic Ventures, Wu Capital and Hearst Ventures.
Before founding LAIX, Yi was a product director at AdChina (later bought by the e-commerce giant Alibaba), and was in charge of commercialization and building the platform of performance advertising. Earlier, Yi was a product manager at Google’s headquarter in Mountain View, California. He was responsible for developing numbers of key projects, including Google Analytics, Cloud Computing, Google public DNS, GASP, etc. Besides, Yi had also worked at Cisco, AT&T research lab, Microsoft Research Asia, and Bain & Company.
Yi received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Princeton University and his MSE and BSE in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University. During the doctoral period, Yi obtained a patent from US Patent Office for his invention of “Virtual Router Migration”.
Dr. Wang was the former chair of Princeton University’s Alumni Association in Shanghai. He was awarded “Top 10 IT Young Talents”in Shanghai. He is also a member of the ASPEN Global Leadership Network.
