Graham Allison, the originator of the “Thucydides’s Trap” theory, has warned the two countries could fall into a dangerous relationship – and even conflict – which could undermine future global peace and security. A new book, titled “Escaping the Thucydides’s Trap,” has been written by Wang Huiyao, the President of the Center for China and Globalization. Can China and the United States avoid such a trap? And is it possible for China and the U.S. to forge a new strategic relationship in which the two countries are able to compete and cooperate at the same time?
