SPD Economic Forum Delegation visits CCG

On April 8, 2024, on the eve of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s visit to China, a German delegation from the Social Democratic Party (SPD) Economic Forum visited the headquarters of the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) in Beijing where they engaged in discussion and exchange with CCG experts and scholars on Sino-German economic and trade relations.

 

During the meeting, CCG Vice President and Senior Research Fellow Mike Liu extended a warm welcome to the visitors. Yongfu Sun, CCG non-resident Senior Fellow and former Director-General for Europe at China’s Ministry of Commerce, made introductory remarks, after which both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as the prospects of Sino-German and Sino-European economic and trade relations, as well as opportunities and challenges for cooperation. The SPD Economic Forum delegation is headed by Matthias Machnig, Former State Secretary and Minister.

On February 17, 2024, CCG convened a side event within the 60th Munich Security Conference 2024 and. On November 16, 2023, CCG President Dr. Henry Huiyao Wang was invited to take part in a panel discussion titled “Interdependencies in the global economy of the Congress | Strategic partnerships in the Indo-Pacific: reducing dependencies, expanding trade, implementing the China strategy” by the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag. The panel was preceded by a Welcome & Introduction by Friedrich Merz, Chairman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag, a speech by Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and a conversation between von der Leyen and Jens Spahn MP, Deputy Chairman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag.

On November 18, 2023, Henry Huiyao Wang and CCG Secretary-General Miao Lu visited the Korber Foundation in Germany.

On April 17, 2024, CCG President Dr. Wang Huiyao will be in Berlin speaking at The Berlin Moot hosted by the Berghof Foundation.
