CCG to host two sessions at upcoming Doha Forum

December 08 , 2023

The 21st Doha Forum will be held in Doha, Qatar from December 10-11, 2023. As the sole Chinese partner of the Forum, CCG will host two sessions titled “A Multilateral Dialogue on Regional Security and Diplomacy” and “The Future of Ukraine: A Broad Spectrum View”.

Established in 2000, the Doha Forum is a platform for global dialogue on critical challenges facing our world. The 21st edition of the Doha Forum will be themed “Building Shared Futures” and will welcome government officials, business executives, and thinkers to address the most pressing unresolved questions in the following areas: International Relations and Security, Economic Policy and Development, Cyber Security, Data Privacy, Artificial Intelligence, and Sustainability.
In 2023, the continued conflict in Ukraine and new tensions between Israel and Palestine means that the world is grappling with unprecedented fragmentation that is ripping through geopolitics, technology, and international trade, while great power competition threatens to divide and polarize the global order and national conflicts are fueled by regional and international interests. Furthermore, technologies that promised to connect the world increasingly result the isolation of peoples and nations from each other, and now call into question the idea and value of human intelligence. However, despite this trend toward fragmentation, the reality of our connectedness remain. True isolation and reactivity are not sustainable options. The need for pro-active engagement, systems level thinking, and results-focused dialogue are more important now than ever.

Against this backdrop, on the morning of December 11, CCG and the renowned US think tank Middle East Institute will co-host a breakout session titled “A Multilateral Dialogue on Regional Security and Diplomacy”. The session will focus on the conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa currently under international spotlight and bring together influential voices within and beyond the region to discuss prospects for diplomacy and conflict resolution, non-proliferation, infrastructure development and economic growth. It will be moderated by Paul Salem, President and CEO of the Middle East Institute, with participation from Wang Huiyao, Founder and President of CCG and Manisha Singh Principal of Sunstone Strategy Group.

In the afternoon of December 11, CCG will hold another breakout session titled “The Future of Ukraine: A Broad Spectrum View”, which aims to discuss the role of international influence and relations in preventing protracted conflicts, specifically referencing the current Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Palestine tensions, as well as strategies that can ease tensions and promote peaceful resolution, ultimately elucidating potential pathways towards durable stability and cooperation in the region. The session will be moderated by CNN correspondent Melissa Bell, with participation from founder and President of CCG, former Counselor to the China State Council Wang Huiyao, President and Chief Executive of European Policy Centre Fabian Zuleeg, Vice Chair of the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security Paula Dobriansky, and Head of Poland’s National Security Bureau Jacek Siewiera.
