Mr. Yang Yi graduated from the Chinese Language and Literature Department of Nankai University in 1983, obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Literature. In 2000, he completed his studies at the Graduate Program in World Economy at Nankai University. In 2005, he pursued advanced training at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, in the fourth session of the Public Administration Senior Training Program.
Mr. Yang Yi has had a long career in the Ministry of Commerce of China (formerly the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation). Since June 2000, he has held various positions, including Director of the Personnel, Education and Labor Division of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, Director of the Bureau of Industry Injury Investigation of the Ministry of Commerce, Deputy Minister of the Economic Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Hong Kong SAR, and Head of the Trade Office of the Ministry of Commerce in Hong Kong SAR (Chief Representative). He is well-versed in practical and theoretical research in the fields of foreign trade, commerce, and Hong Kong-related economic and trade affairs.
