CCG Experts invited to comment on 20th CPC Congress

On 16 October, the 20th CPC National Congress was opened at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Xi Jinping delivered a report to the congress on behalf of the 19th CPC Central Committee. China Global Television Network (CGTN) provided special live coverage of the meeting. Wang Huiyao said that the 20th CPC National Congress is an occasion to stimulate and unify the minds and hearts of the people. China is on the right track and has sent positive and open messages to the world. Over the next five to ten years, high quality development is crucial for a kind of modernization that benefits all of society. As mentioned in the report, the market has played a decisive role in the economic development, but science, technology and talent are also important resources for high quality development and will continue to create provide China with considerable momentum.

Gao Zhikai noted that China has already achieved a profound transformation and maintained rapid economic development. China has become the second largest economy in the world after the USA and by the middle of the century it may become the largest. The 20th CPC National Congress is an important event in China’s political process and is being held at a critical moment as the Party and all of China’s peoples are embarking on a new journey to build a modern socialist nation and looking forward to China’s second “century goal”. At this meeting, the Congress summarized the work the Party has done over the past five years, summarized major achievements and valuable experiences in leading the Party and the people to push the development of “socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era” with Xi Jinping at its the core, analyzed both international and domestic situations, identified the needs for Party development and achieving China’s national goals and the new expectations of the people. It also provided a forward look into the future of socialist modernization, China’s two-step strategy for building a strong socialist country, as well as targets for the deployment of strategic tasks and major initiatives for the next five years.
