Founder, X Museum
Michael Xufu Huang(b.1994) is a renowned internationa art collector, curator, and art patron.He co-founded X Museum in Beijing in 2020.
Graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, Michael has served as a trustee at the New Museum in New York since 2017.He was selected for the “30 Under 30” list (2017) by Forbes USA. From 2018 to 2021, Michael served as the only art world judge in selecting candidates for the Forbes USA and Asia lists. The New York Times has also referred to Michael as “China’s next-generation Jeffrey Deitch” due to his collecting activities and patronage of emerging art talents.
As a co-founder of X Museum, Michael brought internationally renowned artists such as lssy Wood,Christina Quarles,Antonio Obá,and Trey Abdella to China and curated their first solo museum exhibitions in Asia, significantly increasing the market value of their works. Michael has also organized significant exhibitions of works by internationally renowned artists such as Andy Warhol and Nicholas Party in China.
Michael Xufu Huang is devoted to providing a broader international stage for Chinese artists. Lulu by X Museum, a non-profit satellite of X Museum in Mexico,will support one emerging talent based in China to hold an overseas resident solo exhibition in Mexico every year. He also curated “Metal,Wood,Water,Fire and Earth,” which showcased the works of five leading contemporary female artists from China at Pace Gallery, Palo Alto, USA.
One of Michael’s primary collecting interests is new media and post-internet artists.His collecton includes more than 1000 artworks. Besides his involvement in the art world, Michael also has a deep interest in technology and the consumer field, with investments focusing on innovative products and platforms.
