June 22 , 2021
China’s global trade relations and economic trajectory were the focus of an Asia House briefing with Dr Wang Huiyao, Founder and President of the Center for China and Globalization, today (22 June).
Speaking with Asia House Corporate Members, Dr Wang provided an overview of China’s recent economic and development trends, and shared his thoughts on the country’s future role in the global trade order.
Tensions with the US and Europe, as well as China’s role in tackling climate change, were also discussed during the digital briefing.
Asia House Corporate Members joined the discussion from around the world, and put a range of questions to Dr Wang. He was asked about the ongoing US-China rivalry, including how businesses can help to defuse tensions and how relations are likely to play out. China’s aims for COP26; concerns around BRI sustainability; and moves to open up China’s financial services sector were also addressed, as were business trends in China, including the prospects for Chinese companies expanding overseas.
Chaired by Charlie Humphreys, Director of Corporate Affairs at Asia House, the briefing provided Corporate Members with a timely update on one of the world’s most influential economies.
