Beijing foreign senior diplomats held meetings with CCG

In the first quarter of 2021, ambassadors and diplomats from various embassies in Beijing visited the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) Beijing headquarters to exchange views on multiple issues, including the international situation and economy and trade.

February 24th

Officials from the Australian Embassy in Beijing, including Minister-Counsellor (Economic) Lachlan Crews, Counsellor Kevin Thomson, and First Secretary Verity Todoroski visited CCG and had a conversation with CCG experts on the signing of Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), China’s positive consideration on joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), and how China advances its systematic reform to adapt to the standards of multilateral agreements.

 

March 1st

Head of the Economic Section of the US Embassy to China, Minister-Counselor for Economic Affairs, Jonathan A. Habjan, Trade Officer Mimi Lu, Economic Officer Joey Bristol and Economists Xiaohong Ma and Liwen Jia visited CCG and conducted an in-depth discussion with CCG experts on Reform and Opening-up of China’s free trade pilot zone, ways to further deepen the liberalization and facilitation of trade, and how to further ease market access and improve the business environment.

March 2nd

Ambassador of Cabo Verde to China Tania Romualdo visited CCG and exchanged views with CCG experts on issues, including cooperation between two countries and the Belt and Road. Ambassador Tania Romualdo pointed out that as a female diplomat, she pays lots of attention to women’s leadership in global affairs and gender equality. Ambassador Romualdo expressed hopes of working with CCG to encourage more women to participate in international affairs and diplomacy.


March 3rd

Ambassador of Brazil to China Paulo Mesquita, Minister Celso de Tarso Pereira, Minister João Batista Magalhães, Secretary Germano Correa and other officials visited CCG. Ambassador Paulo Mesquita pointed out that China and Brazil have established diplomatic relations for many years but the two countries still lack mutual understanding, making differences in culture and mentality one of the biggest problems in China-Brazil cooperation. Ambassador Mesquita suggested to strengthen people-to-people exchanges and deepen communication in many aspects, including diplomacy, commerce, academia, studying abroad and tourism.

March 3rd

First Secretary of the Economic and Commercial Office at the Embassy of Italy, Eugenio Poti visited CCG and talked with CCG experts regarding issues, such as WTO reform and development after the new Director General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala took office, China’s signing of RCEP in recent months, the China-EU Comprehensive Agreement on Investment, US-China relations and China’s 14th 5-year plan.
