Former President of the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation
Huo Jianguo, Former President of the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation (CAITEC), Ph.D of Economics, Senior Research Fellow, and Ph.D supervisor. With a long experience in trade administration, world economy, and trade policy research, Dr. Huo has been active across different fields and designated positions such as Deputy Director General at the Department of Foreign Economy and Trade at the State Economic and Trade Commission, Deputy Director General of the Department of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Commerce and presided as President of China’s Chamber of Commerce of Import and Export Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal By Products. As Chief Coordinator from 1993 to 2001, Dr. Huo participated in APEC activities and ABAC dialogues within APEC. His outstanding contributions have been recognized and awarded by the Ministry of Commerce, notably for putting forward the first proposal for achieving trade balance through voluntary import expansions through establishing a trade balance fund. Dr. Huo has published several books such China Foreign Trade and National Competitive Advantage, History of Chinese Foreign Trade, as well as articles released within economic publications.
