Liu Yonghao, born in September 1951, is a native of Chengdu, Sichuan. He is chairman of New Hope Group and vice chairman of China Minsheng Bank. He also serves as rotating chairman of the renowned enterprise committee at the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce as well as the Yabuli China Entrepreneurs Forum. In addition, he is chairman of the General Association of Sichuan Entrepreneurs, as well as the National Rural Industry Integration and Development Alliance. He is currently a member of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). He was a member of the Standing Committee of the 9th and 10th CPPCC National Committee, and vice chair of the Committee for Economic Affairs of the 10th and 11th CPPCC National Committee. He also served as vice chair of the 7th and 8th board of directors of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, committee member of the 8th – 11th CPPCC National Committee, and a delegate to the 12th National People’s Congress.

Founded in 1982, New Hope Group owns numerous A-share listed companies, and has more than 600 subsidiaries in 30 countries, with staff strength of more than 100,000 people. The Group’s assets amount to more than RMB200 billion with annual sales exceeding RMB160 billion. Liu Yonghao began his career in the agriculture industry in 1982. In 2018, on the 40th anniversary of the reform and opening-up, Liu Yonghao was named a “reform pioneer” by the Party Central Committee and State Council. He was nominated for the list of “Top 100 Outstanding Private Entrepreneurs in the 40 Years of Reform and Opening Up” by the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee of the CPC and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce. He was conferred the “National Poverty Alleviation Award – Contribution Award” and award for “Outstanding Contribution to the Guangcai Program”; and named an Advanced Individual of the Sichuan Province “Assistance for 10,000 Villages by 10,000 Enterprises” targeted poverty alleviation campaign, as well as the 2006 and 2010 “CCTV Economic Person of the Year”, among many other awards and honors.
