He holds a Bachelor’s degree from China University of Political Science and Law, a Master’s degree in Political Science from Peking University, and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). He has previously served as a lecturer in the Department of Government at Christopher Newport University in Virginia, USA, and as a research fellow at the National Strategy Institute of Tsinghua University. Dr. Shou’s research primarily focuses on comparative and international political economy, international development, regional cooperation and governance, China-US relations, and comparative public policy. His research on China’s welfare system was awarded the Best Paper Award by the Association of Chinese Political Science at the United state in 2010. He has published numerous papers in both Chinese and English journals and is the author and co-author of three books, with his latest work published by Routledge at the end of 2016.
