Dr. Xue Xiaoyuan is a research fellow, postdoctoral supervisor, and associate supervisor of the Beijing-based Central Compilation and Translation Bureau; the Director-General of the bureau’s Periodicals Center; and a member of the Academic Committee of the Bureau. He is also a part-time professor of Peking University, Nankai University, Tongji University, and Zhengzhou University; a special-term professor of the Renmin University of China School of Arts; the General Consultant of arts and natural history for the Beijing-based Commercial Press; the Editor-in-Chief of China Natural History Review; an executive director of the Copyright Society of China; and a member of the Experts Committee of the journal Chinese Calligraphy and Painting.
Dr. Xue has published three academic monographs and more than 50 articles in China’s central-level newspapers and periodicals. He gave interviews to China’s Central Television Station and the Shanghai Television Station. He was the editor-in-chief of more than 500 academic and art books. His monograph Beauty in Motion Understood and Interpreted in Chinese Culture was selected in 2014 as China’s classic writing for foreign consumption. His portraits of Lien Chen, Honorary Chairman of the Kuomintang of China, and Francis Gurry, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization, won him the praise of the Party History Research Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Foreign Ministry of China.
