Ms.Linda Wong is the chairwoman of Yihai Property Holdings Limited and Yihai Education Group, president of Beijing Yihai Foundation, deputy chairwoman of Overseas Chinese Charity Foundation, vice president of the Chinese Association for Non-Government Education, special member of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization – UNESCO and honorary principal of Beichuan Middle School in Sichuan Province.
In 1989, Ms. Wong founded Yihai Group, and she was one of the earliest entrepreneurs in Hong Kong entering China’s real estate industry, who created 20 firsts in this field in China. Over the past 28 years, Yihai Group has successfully developed into a diversified group company engaged in real estate, education, property management, health, business, finance and many other businesses.
Ms. Wong advocates education, and firmly believes that education is the key to the future’s competition. She has invested heavily to establish the superior non-government schools in Beijing and has formulated a complete and scientific education mode. Since 1997, Ms Wong has founded about 15 schools , including Parent-child nurseries for under the age of 3, Kindergarten, Primary School, Middle School ,The Seniors’ college and Community college, etc. Currently, there are around 20,000 students and over 1000 teachers, Yihai Education now becoming one of the flagships in China Non-Government schools.
From 2008 to now, Ms.Wong has conducted multiple donations and benefactions for disaster-affected areas. In the 12th of May ,Wenchuan Earthquake in 2008, she suspended her company’s business and devoted herself to the reconstruction of Beichuan Middle School. She donated more than 20 million RMB for the reconstruction, and insists to send qualify teachers for supporting the education every year. In order to improve the education and faculty level of remote and poor areas of China, Yihai group set up “Education Class”, has funded about 750 students in consecutive 5 years and held the “principal training course” in consecutive 6 years with about 700 educated people , as well as “English for teaching method”, training for English teachers every year in these areas. Internationally, she has funded the “Exchanged Project Between Chinese and American Teachers”(1million dollars ) in consecutive 3 years and supported the development of the project of “American Young Leaders Visiting China”.She has also provided donations for the construction of basketball hall of one middle school in America, as well as the disaster-affected countries including Seychelles ,Serbia and Indonesia, etc.
Since 2008, Ms. Linda Wong has been granted the top governmental prize “China Charity Award” in the field of Chinese charity and the title “China Ten Philanthropists in China Charity List” for four consecutive years, the “China Outstanding Citizen Award” for 3 consecutive years, one of the “National Top Ten Public Welfare Stars”, and “Special Contribution Award for Reconstruction of Beichuan Middle School” and so on.
