Mr. Xinghong Hua is Managing Director and Head of China of Cerberus Capital Management LP, a New York-based leading global investment and buyout fund with approximately $30 billion under management, responsible for leading all of Cerberus’ activities in China. Former US Vice President Dan Quayle and former US Treasury Secretary John Snow are Co-Chairmen of Cerberus Capital.
Prior to joining Cerberus in March 2008, Mr. Hua was the Asia Pacific Vice President of Alcoa Inc., one of the world’s largest aluminum companies, responsible for leading Alcoa’s M&A, business development and strategic planning activities in the region, and successfully completed a number of major acquisition/investment projects in China. Prior to that, Mr. Hua served for many years in the United States, holding management positions at a major US oil company and an international energy investment and advisory firm, as well as at the headquarters of Bank of China in Beijing.
Mr. Hua is one of the founding board members of Teach for China, the first and only non-profit organization in China to systematically recruit outstanding graduates from top Chinese universities and sponsor them to teach at rural elementary schools in China, with a mission to eliminate educational inequity in China. He is also a board director of The Institute for Industrial Productivity (IIP), an international non-profit organization affiliated with the ClimateWorks Foundation, and an advisory board member of Carnegie-Tsinghua Center, the China affiliate of the internationally renowned think tank Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
Mr. Hua graduated from Beijing University with the bachelor & master’s degrees in International Relations, and from the Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Washington DC with the master’s degree in International Economics and International Energy & Environment.
