Ge Jianxiong, Fellow of Central Research Institute of Culture and History; Member of the Department of Social Sciences of Ministry of Education.
Ge Jianxiong is a professor of History at Fudan University. He was the former director of the Institute of Chinese Historical Geography and the Historical Geography Research Center of Fudan University. In March 2007, Professor Ge left his post of 11 years as Director to become the Fudan University Librarian. His other titles include member of the Standing Committee of CPPCC, member of the Committee of Social Sciences under the Ministry of Education, member of the Board of History Society of China, Vice President of History Society of Shanghai Municipality, member of Chinese National Committee for International Geosphere-Biosphere Program (IGBP) and member of Advisory Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Government.
Professor Ge has published more than 20 historian monographs and more than 100 papers. His works were honored by the Commemoration of the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Party’s theoretical seminar, and the Guo Muoruo History Award. He has participated in the Chinese Humanities Scholars Antarctic Trip, and has served on academic exchange at Harvard University, Cambridge, and other internationally renowned institutions.
Professor Ge has made Outstanding Contributions to the Chinese Doctorate Recipients by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee and the Ministry of Education. He published Western Han Population Geography, China’s Population History of the Development and more than 100 other papers.
