To literally no one’s surprise, Shanghai has once again topped yet another ranking of the most attractive places in China for expats to live and work.
The survey, which was co-authored by the Center for China & Globalization (CCG) and the Institute of Development Studies of the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, measured how well each of China’s 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities did at attracting international talent through three different measurements: the number of expatriates, the career development environment for international talent and the living environment for expats.
Of course, Shanghai came out on top, followed by Beijing and then Guangdong province.
In the survey, Shanghai ranked first in terms of the development environment for international talent and second in terms of the number of expatriates, behind only Beijing. However, in living environment, Shanghai somehow lagged behind Guangdong province, Beijing, Jiangsu province and Shandong province.
For years, Shanghai has unsurprisingly been at the top of these sort of rankings. Apart from being home to Taco Bell and White Castle locations, the report also notes that the city has continued to introduce a number of expat-friendly policies to attract top international talent. From ，2017-09-14
