Fred Teng is President of the America China Public Affairs Institute. Previously, Mr. Teng served over seven years as Chief Executive Officer of China Newsweek Corporation, the publisher of NewsChina magazine. Prior, Mr. Teng has served as senior management in the financial, telecommunications, technology, and media industries, including Merrill Lynch, Oppenheimer & Co, AT&T, DVS New York, and Multicultural Radio Broadcasting Inc.

In addition, Mr. Teng serves as the Senior U.S. Representative of the China-United States Exchange Foundation. He is also a Special Council Member of the China Foundation for Peace and Development, Counselor of the EastWest Institute, a Standing Committee Member of the Center for China and Globalization, and a Fellow of the Foreign Policy Association. He is a member of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, and a Centennial Society member of the Economic Club of New York.Mr. Teng is a regular commentator and contributor on issues relating to U.S. China relations.

Mr. Teng had served as the Chairman of the Hong Kong Association of New York; the Chairman of the National U.S. Hong Kong Business Associations; the Chairman of New York Community Advisory Board of WNET/thirteen; the Vice Chairman of the National Asian Pacific Center on Aging, the Co-Chairman of the President’s Council of The China Institute in America; President of the Chinese American Planning Council, and the President of the Asian Financial Society.

On the Federal level, Mr. Teng was appointed by the President of United States to serve on the National Advisory Board of the Small Business Development Centers.

On the local level, Mr. Teng was also appointed the Mayor of New York to serve on the New York City’s Minority Women Business Enterprise Advisory Board, which he also served as the Chairman of the Certification Committee.

Mr. Teng was the recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and the New York State Governor’s award for Community Leadership.

Mr. Teng received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Baruch College, City University of New York. Mr. Teng attended Columbia University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and has completed an executive management program at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Business.

Mr. Teng is a four-time marathon runner; he has completed races in New York, Hartford, Connecticut, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Born in Shanghai, China; raised in Hong Kong; Mr. Teng currently resides in New York City with his family.
