Wei Xue, born in Beijing, studied business management in the Department of Economics of Sophia University in 1992, and went to Brigham Young University in the United States to study public relations. In 1997, he founded China Pulepu Public Relations Consultant Co., Ltd. and served as the president. He is currently Executive Director of TCL Public Welfare Foundation, Chairman of TCL Culture Media Co., Ltd. and President of Asian Women’s Development Association.
At the same time, Wei also served as a visiting researcher at the Center for Chinese and Foreign Women’s Studies at Peking University, vice president of the Chamber of Commerce of China’s European and American Alumni Association, member of Beijing Youth Federation, member of Beijing Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and director of Wildaid Association, an international environmental protection organization.
Wei Xue is enthusiastic about China’s public welfare undertakings. In 2007, he donated money to establish the first entrepreneur public welfare fund “Huameng Fund” of China Youth Foundation to support the development of China’s education undertakings. Over the past nine years, he has invested a total of 70 million yuan. Huameng class is the core project of Huameng Fund, which is dedicated to providing junior high school graduates with poor families but excellent academic performance with the opportunity to continue their education in the age groups that cannot be covered by the national nine-year compulsory education system, so as to help them successfully complete their high school studies and enter universities.
At the end of 2014, Wei Xue was named “Philanthropist of the Year” by Southern People Weekly.
