Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, former President of Baidu, former global senior Vice President of Microsoft Zhang Yaqin, Chair Professor of Tsinghua University, Dean of Institute for AI Industry Research. He served as the president of Baidu from September 2014 to October 2019. During his nearly 16-year career at Microsoft, he served as senior vice president of Microsoft Corporation, chairman of Microsoft Asia Pacific R&D Group, president of Microsoft Research Asia, chairman of Microsoft China, and vice president of mobile and embedded divisions.
Dr. Zhang Yaqin is fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, foreign member of the Australian National Academy of Engineering, and fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE Fellow). He holds more than 60 U.S. patents, more than 560 academic papers and 11 monographs. He has served as government consultant in five countries, trustee or honorary professor of 12 universities around the world, member of Committee of 100, advisor to the Australian Information and Communication Center, and honorary professor at the University of Sydney. He is also the corporate director of the United Nations Development Agency and member of the “Board of Stewards, Shaping the Future of Mobility” steering committee of the World Economic Forum.
