CCG Hosts Roundtable Discussion for Overseas Chinese Business Leaders and Think Tanks at Boao Forum
On March 26, 2017, Mr. Huiyao Wang, President of the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) hosted a roundtable discussion with overseas Chinese business leaders and think tank scholars at the 2017 Boao Forum. The event was focused on how Chinese business community around the world can capitalize on the opportunities provided by China’s “One Belt, One Road” initiatives.

Nearly 30 business leaders and think tank scholars attended the roundtable, featuring Guo Jun, the deputy director of the State Council Office for Overseas Chinese affairs; Xie Guomin, Chairman of Zhengda Group ; Wang Huiyao, CCG President and the Counselor for the State Council; Deng Xiuxin, the president of the Huazhong Agricultural University and the academician from the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
With the focus on the “One Belt, One Road” initiative, the participants had in-depth discussion of the topics in five main areas, which are innovation and development; the transformation and upgrading of the Chinese enterprises; public diplomacy and people-to-people exchanges; the prospect on the cooperation through Internet; and the opportunities to enhance the connection between China’s mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
These topics are also in align with the theme of the Boao forum this year, which is the future of globalization and free trade. Through the roundtable discussion, overseas Chinese business and academic community were able to contribute their insights and suggestion to the construction of “One Belt, One Road”.
The roundtable was organized as part of the high-level conferences at the Boao Forum. It serves as a platform for global Chinese business leaders to seek consensus and participate in the global economic governance. Meanwhile, it is also an occasion for networking and partnership building. The roundtable made the Boao Forum more inclusive and diversified by connecting Chinese business community both at home and abroad to provide sound advice on the Chinese and global economic initiatives.
