Vice President of Institute Area Studies of PKU
Zhai Kun is Vice President of Institute Area Studies of PKU.
Dr. Zhai received his PhD in International Relations from China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR) in 2010, his M.A. in International Relations and B.A. in International Journalism from the University of International Relations respectively in 1998 and 1995.
Dr. Zhai is a guest professor of Chinese Academy of Governance,a council member of China People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), China Expert and Eminent Person of ASEAN Regional Forum, and Deputy President of China Association of Southeast Asian Studies.
Dr. Zhai had been worked in CICIR during 1998 to 2014. Dr.Zhai used to be the director of Institute of World Political Studies from 2011 to 2014 and the director of South and Southeast Asian and Oceania Studies from 2008 to 2011 in CICIR. His research mainly focuses on comprehensive study of global, peripheral and country issues, especially Southeast Asia and Oceania.
Dr. Zhai has made many internal researching reports for government, received great amount of positive and admiring responds from policy makers, enterprises, etc. Dr. Zhai has deeply involved in the designing and consulting works along with researching and evaluation part and the communication plus exchange visit of “the Belt and Road” project under the commission of many local government, ministries and enterprises. Meanwhile, Dr. Zhai has awarded as the expert on policy interpretation and consultants of “the Belt and Road” project by relevant national ministries and central media.。
Dr. Zhai has an immense number of publications. The most recently published achievements in research include Make a Breakthrough at Neighboring Restrictions of China’s Rise, Help Myanmar Succeed, Help China Succeed: China and Myanmar Need to Seek for a Path of Adaptable Win-Win, China Economic Yearbook: One Belt, One Road, etc.
