Wang Huiyao, president of the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) talked how global media is responding to the challenges of globalization and the threat of protectionism.
Wang emphasized that the media plays an important role in globalization as it’s an easy way to get connected with other countries. However, people, capital and goods are moving faster than ever before, challenging the authority and authenticity of the news. Global media has to be more active and innovative to tackle this.
As for the threat of isolation and protectionism, Wang added that the global media had to be more responsible, forthcoming, interconnected and open.
The China Global Television Network (CGTN) and CCTV News Content jointly held the second CGTN Global Media Summit and the eighth Video Media Forum in Chongqing on October 16 and 17.
